The exchange between Ballaké Sissoko and Piers Faccini began almost 20 years ago, when the two artists met at the same record label : Label Bleu. A fascinating dialogue was immediately established between the folk songwriter from London - passionate about African music - and the musician from Bamako - heir to the great tradition of the kora and Mandingo music.
Sometimes the best conversations happen slowly. It takes time to get beyond clichés. Contrary to the saying, music is not a universal thing, but rather a matter of languages. It takes time to learn each other's languages, not just to listen to them, but above all to hear them.
In 2020, once again on the same label, this time Nø Førmat, the exchange was renewed. Ballaké Sissoko invited Piers Faccini to sing "Kadidja", a song in Bambara, on his album "Djourou". Piers Faccini then wrote another song for the duo: "The Fire Inside".
The two friends then decided to record a full album together, scheduled for release in early 2025.
Album release February 2025, release on No Format ! label.
Tour, co-produced with Mad Minute from March 2025
